During my vacation in December 2019, I had two dreams on consecutive nights. I believe they align with what many in the prophetic community were sensing for 2020 and beyond: that there is power in what we speak—that, in many ways, victory is connected to our words.
In the Hebrew calendar, the year 5780 corresponds with the number 80, associated with the word “Pey,” meaning “mouth.” Whether or not one leans heavily on that symbolism, the idea is clear: what we say matters.
The Dreams
In the first dream, I saw a church elder who was battling cancer. I said to him, “In 2020, decree.”
The next night, I had another dream. I saw a mother and her son. The son told me that his mother’s medical report had come back, and the diagnosis was terminal.
I responded, “I just had a dream about an elder with cancer, and I told him this: ‘In 2020, decree.’”
Dream Interpretation
People and situations in dreams are often symbolic. This may not be about literal illness, but about circumstances that feel overwhelming—situations that appear final, hopeless, or beyond repair.
The consistent message across both dreams was this: how we respond matters. Not just internally, but verbally.
What are we speaking over our lives? Are our words shaped by fear, worry, and frustration? Or are they grounded in truth, hope, and conviction?
There’s value in honesty—we don’t have to pretend difficulties don’t exist. But there’s also a call to speak in a way that aligns with what we believe to be true at a deeper level.
Proclaim and decree God’s promises from His word into your situations that look difficult or impossible.
Speaking with intention isn’t about using formulas or repeating phrases mechanically. It flows from conviction—what you genuinely believe.
When Jesus walked on earth, He spoke a different reality into the facts that people were facing. He brought God’s super into the natural.
This idea is echoed in the scriptures such as:
Romans 4:17: God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.
Matthew 17:20: So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
A Final Thought
Scripture reminds us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Instead of speaking negativity over your life, choose to speak God’s Word. This isn’t about denying reality—it’s about declaring a greater reality rooted in His truth.
False humility and self-pity don’t honor God—faith does. So speak to your mountain with faith and authority.
Trust that the Holy Spirit will guide you into truth and give you insight for what lies ahead. As you discern His leading, align your words and your actions. Faith is not passive—at times it requires stepping forward in obedience, because faith without action remains incomplete.
Stay consistent. Keep speaking His promises. Be patient in the process. Like striking the ground again and again, persistence matters. Don’t give up.
