God saved us from suicide

For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, “Fear not, I will help you.”

I want to briefly share a story of God’s love and supernatural protection over my family. This happened many years ago, during a time when we were still practicing Catholics.

My dad had entrusted some company money to a friend for safekeeping, believing it would be secure with him. But when he later asked for the money back, the friend began making excuses and refused to return it.

As a result, the company filed a criminal case against my dad.

Feeling hopeless and abandoned, with no one to help them, my parents came to the heartbreaking decision to end their lives together as a family.

My sister and I were too young to understand what was happening.

My dad went out to buy Tick20 pesticide, intending to use it as poison. But when he reached the shop, he suddenly heard a voice telling him to go back home.

At the same time, my mom was at home praying.

My dad returned home, and just a few hours later, the same friend unexpectedly came to our house and returned a portion of the money.

Isn’t that incredible?

Not only did God stop my dad from buying the poison, but He also moved in the heart of his friend to return part of the money.

God was protecting us because He had a purpose and a plan for our lives.

A couple of weeks later, someone from the Catholic Charismatic movement visited our home and shared scriptures from the Bible. Through that visit, God encouraged my dad with this passage:

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.”
— Isaiah 43:1–2

A few days later, my parents attended a charismatic prayer meeting.

On the first day, my mother was healed of piles and chronic back pain.

On the second day, the preacher said from the stage:

“There is a person here troubled by office matters and a police case, but God is saying that He is taking care of it.”

The preacher had never met my dad, yet God revealed those details supernaturally to encourage him.

Eventually, my dad requested the company to deduct his dues and provident fund benefits toward the remaining amount owed. The company agreed and withdrew the case. Although his relationship with the company had become strained, reconciliation eventually took place about a year and a half later.

During that season, my dad also had a vision in which he saw Mother Mary saying to him:

“Listen to my Son. Salvation is only through my Son, Jesus.”

As a family, we began to realize there was so much more to Jesus and to the Scriptures than we had known before.

We had Christianity as a religion. We followed rituals and obligations, but we were not truly seeking the truth, nor did we fully understand what Jesus had done for us on the cross.

For several months, we attended Bible study sessions. Over time, my dad began following Jesus wholeheartedly.

Later, all of us in the family followed as well. We surrendered our lives to Jesus—not merely as a religious act, but because we came to understand the meaning of the cross and the depth of His love for us.

Jesus said:

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

The enemy tried to steal, kill, and destroy, but God protected us. Then He led us to know His Son, Jesus, in a way we never had before—and it changed our lives forever.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
