I had this dream in 2020, at a time when many believers in Christ were intensely focused on COVID-19 news and reports.
In the dream, I saw a group of us—believers—on our way somewhere with purpose. But at some point, we turned aside into a dark place. As we walked through the darkness, lions began to attack us. We were confused and unsettled because we couldn’t see where the attacks were coming from.
We managed to make sharp weapons and prepared ourselves, waiting for the lions to appear. We stayed alert all night—but nothing came.
Then, as we finally walked out of that place, I said, “Why did we even come here in the first place?”
And I realized: we could have stayed in the light—or gone somewhere better. Instead, we had stepped into an unnecessary battle. We had taken the bait.
Dream Interpretation
When we fix our attention on the constant stream of news and worldly reports, our minds can gradually drift into a dark place.
At first, it feels harmless—we’re just staying informed. But over time, it begins to shape how we see things. Our focus shifts from what God is doing to what the enemy is doing.
Scripture describes the devil as a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Fear, doubt, stress, and unbelief can open the door for that kind of oppression. What we dwell on has the power to influence us deeply.
But the Bible also gives us a different path. God promises perfect peace to those whose minds are fixed on Him. When we abide in His Word, we remain in the light—and that is a place of rest.
When we allow God’s peace—not fear-driven headlines—to govern our hearts, we begin to live from a place of stability and trust. His peace guards us, steadies us, and lifts our perspective.
Psalm 91 speaks of protection in the “secret place” of the Most High. That place is found in abiding—in staying close to Christ, in His Word, in His presence. It is not about denial of reality, but about anchoring ourselves in a greater reality: who God is and what He has promised.
We are called to live from that place. To set our minds above, not merely on what is happening around us. Even when darkness seems to increase, God’s light is not diminished—and His presence remains our refuge.
So be mindful of where your attention rests. Don’t let it be consumed by fear or constant noise. Instead, stay rooted in the light. Meditate on God’s Word. Make space for worship. Fill your mind with what strengthens your faith.
That’s not avoidance—it’s alignment.
