Many years ago, when my wife and I were living in Delhi, we visited my parents one weekend. My mom was experiencing severe pain throughout her body. She said it was the kind of pain that could take weeks, maybe even a month, to go away.
I don’t remember exactly what the condition was, but she was really struggling.
As we were sitting in the living room talking, I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me: Why not pray for healing right now?
So I asked my mom, “Would you like to be healed supernaturally right now?”
She said she would like to, but she wasn’t really sure if it was possible.
I said, “Let’s give it a shot.”
My wife and I prayed and commanded the pain to leave in Jesus’ name. After praying, I asked my mom how she felt.
She said, “It feels like the pain has reduced.”
I replied, “Then let’s pray again.”
So we prayed a second time and again commanded the pain to leave in Jesus’ name. When I asked how she felt, she said the pain had decreased even more, but it still hadn’t completely gone.
I said, “Well, if some of the pain has already left, then let’s believe for complete healing.”
So we prayed a third time—maybe even a fourth time—and once again commanded the pain to leave in Jesus’ name.
Then I asked her, “How do you feel now?”
She looked surprised and said, “It’s gone.”
My wife and I still remember her reaction. She couldn’t believe it had disappeared just like that. She kept saying, “Wow… it’s gone!”
What she thought would take three weeks took only three minutes.
She was completely healed.
God’s supernatural power broke into the natural.
Pray and Believe for Your Healing
Later, I thought about why my mom initially found it difficult to believe that supernatural healing was possible for her. She could have prayed herself and believed God for healing.
We hear testimonies of supernatural healing all the time—on television, YouTube, in churches, and in the Bible itself. We read how Jesus healed the sick and how healing broke out when believers prayed.
But when it comes to our own lives, we often become passive in faith. We assume it may work for others but not for us. Sometimes we don’t even try. And even when healing takes time, we shouldn’t give up.
Personally, I try to approach things with faith. I don’t want unbelief to limit what God may want to do. And even when I don’t understand why certain things happen, I still trust God and continue walking with Him without overanalyzing everything.
I believe many people continue tolerating sickness and pain when God may actually be inviting them to seek Him, stand on His promises, and respond in faith.
Speak to the Sickness
The new covenant through Jesus is a better covenant. Jesus suffered and paid the price so that we could receive healing, freedom, and redemption from the curse of sin and the oppression of the enemy.
We honor His sacrifice when we put our faith in His finished work and apply His promises in our lives.
I’ve prayed for myself and for others, and I’ve seen results.
A few months ago, I had persistent pain in my leg. I tolerated it for months, assuming it would eventually disappear on its own. But during a vacation, it became especially difficult and uncomfortable.
After returning home, I finally decided to address it in prayer.
I began speaking directly against the pain and commanded it to leave in Jesus’ name. I declared that Jesus had already paid the price and that by His stripes we are healed. I refused to simply accept the pain as permanent.
Some people may think that sounds strange, but faith often looks foolish to the natural mind.
From the time I began praying and speaking over it consistently, I started noticing changes within days. Very soon, the pain disappeared completely.
Of course, I also desire to see every person healed when I pray for them. And when some people don’t receive healing immediately, I still don’t give up. I’m not afraid of disappointment or failure. I continue praying because I believe God is good.
We live in a broken world, and people do get sick. But as long as we are breathing, we should continue fighting sickness, pain, and discouragement with faith and perseverance.
Even if it’s something as small as knee pain, don’t simply tolerate it. God cares about the small things too.
At the same time, there’s wisdom in taking practical steps. Go to a doctor if needed. Take medicine when necessary. Eat healthy and exercise regularly.
But alongside all of that, continue declaring God’s promises over your life.
By the stripes of Jesus, we were healed. A divine exchange took place on the cross. But often, we must stand in faith and persist until we see that reality manifested in our lives.
In the Bible, the prophet Elisha told the king of Israel to strike the ground with arrows. The king struck only three times and stopped, and Elisha rebuked him because he lacked persistence.
Sometimes we stop believing too soon.
We must learn to keep releasing the promises of God through faith, prayer, and perseverance until breakthrough comes.
Speak to the sickness. Speak to the pain. Command it to leave in Jesus’ name.
Be persistent. Be resilient. Keep trusting God.
We never know when God’s supernatural power may suddenly break into our situation and change everything.
