Someday in paradise

Someday in paradise
The books will open
to tell you my life story
How I rolled the dice
Thrived in disguise
Thought I was wise
In my stubborn will
traded a paradise
where time stands still
for fleeting pleasures
as my right to fill

Someday in paradise
The books will open
to tell you my life story
How I gained it all
knowing my soul
would take the fall
I heard a voice saying
“I am the Way”
All paths are the same
I would say and went astray

Someday in paradise
The books will open
to tell you my life story
How I loved the game
Lived for the fame
and the chanting of my name
He said the first will be last
I said I will be unsurpassed
And my legacy vast
He said without Him
all is vanity
I said You dying for me
is insanity
Despised His cross
as shame
I was too blind to see
why He came

Someday in paradise
The books will open
to tell you my life story
How I lost the paradise
awaiting the other side
because of my lofty pride
How I failed to see
a love as wide as the sea
that wanted to save
a vile sinner like me
and set me free

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? — Jesus
